Sacred Heart of Venus Garter Belt

The blue, sparkling, sea-born Sacred Heart of Venus! This is a hand-embroidered design on a vintage French pink garter/suspender belt. This piece is part of my Venusian Summer collection, celebrating the water-y, dreamy, abundant nature of the summer. Venus’s sacred heart is presented like her birth: on a wave of sea foam and surrounded by little pink flowers. Her heart is blue like the sea, and the flames that would usually sit on top of a sacred heart are now coral! The name “VENVS” is embroidered on a little scroll across the front of the heart, reminiscent of engravings of Venus from the Early Modern period in art history.

This garter belt measures approximately 32 inches at the waist and features four suspender clips. This is a vintage piece in good vintage condition, though there is some rust staining near the clips that are covered by a ribbon. This is a completely hand-embroidered and hand-beaded piece that is one-of-a-kind.
